Established in 1987, Edvotek is a biotechnology education company producing unique experiment kits and lab equipment for schools and colleges in the US. It is known for supplying value for money products and is well respected within its field. Wanting to take their products further afield Edvotek Europe was formed in 2006. Research showed the UK science education market to be less advanced than it’s American counterpart and the area of biotechnology was just emerging on the UK national school syllabus.

Blue Pig was engaged to help Edvotek Europe re-design their offering for the UK market to be more relevant, attractive and easier to use. The brand needed to be aimed at science educators from heads of departments to lab technicians and to incorporate Edvotek’s core values.

By developing the catalogue first, Blue Pig created a clean, accessible and modern look, which embodied the company’s core values. Working closely with Edvotek Europe, product sections were re-grouped and edited to be more friendlier and intuitive. Photography of students using the products were prominently used along with a secondary theme of real life applications. Quotes from eminent scientists past and present were incorporated throughout the catalogue to inspire. Once the catalogue was created Blue Pig carried the Edvotek branding across other components which included logo development, stationary, advertising, direct mail, posters, exhibition display, packaging and website.

Edvotek enjoyed a fantastic response to the launch of their products and brand. Direct mail campaigns resulted in higher than average response, training seminars sold out and product sales exceeded projections. In fact the parent company in America so loved the new branding that they adopted it for the US market!
